Details for Runners
July 31, 2009Here is additional information.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PACKETS ARE PICKED UP AT JOLLEY’S RANCH NOT AT THE FINISH LINE.
START TIME
By now you should have a pretty good idea of what your pace is. We have it listed below, it is based on your pace. Please be at Jolley’s Ranch at least 1 hour before your start time so you can get your bib number and packet.
COSTUMES
Included in your packet is an LED necklace. Glow sticks are available for runners and some additional lighting devices will be available for sale. All runners are required to have some lighting devices so they are visible to traffic. Best costumes get prizes.
AID STATIONS
Aid stations will be at approximately:
mile 3 (Jolley’s Ranch)
mile 7 (mouth of the canyon)
mile 10 (Bluth’s home 1250 E 1600 S)
There will be water, Gatorade and restrooms.
RESTROOMS
Public restrooms are at the sign up place (Jolley’s Ranch), at the starting line (gravel pit), and all aid stations as well as the finish line. Otherwise bushes are provided both on the left and right through mile 7 but will not be available within Mapleton city limits.
AWARDS
Awards will be given for 1st thru 4th place over the finish line after midnight. Remember no timing devices allowed, that is cheating!! The early birds get worms. Best costumes get prizes. All finishers will receive a finishers medal.
SPECTATORS
Spectators welcome anywhere along the course. Jolley’s Ranch is a very good place to see all the runnrs and still hav plenty of time to get to the end of the finish line. We do need to be considerate of noise when we are near homes coming through Mapeton but near the finish line the neighbors have been warned.
SAFETY
Please be aware that we are sharing the roads, none of the roads are being closed. We ask all runners to STAY ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD so you ca see opposing traffic.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Anyone that may have special needs, please contact us directly (Rick 801-687-0932, Sherie 801-362-0362). We have a wheelchair accessible van available and are happy to assist you with any other needs.
PARKING/CARPOOLING
Parking is not available at the starting line, this is a gravel pit, it is often used as a shooting range. Probably not a good idea to leave cars unattended there. We will be coordinating carpooling from Jolley’s Ranch to the starting line (3 miles up). This should keep traffic to a minimum for the runners on this narrow 3 mile stretch of road.
FINISH LINE
The finish line will be at Ira Allen Park in Mapleton (800 West and 1700 South).
